Be yourself. Be the difference.

Leidos makes the world safer, healthier and more efficient through information technology, engineering and science. As a large scale prime systems and services integrator, they turn complex data into usable solutions for their customers. In practical terms, they deliver software applications for a wide range of missions in the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance domain. They provide critical projects to the Department of Defence whilst supporting the IT environment for the Australian Taxation Office. They also maintain legislative websites for a number of governments.

About the role

As a Junior-Mid level Software Developer working with the IT services team, your average week could include a wide range of activities such as using your skills to undertake writing scripts, ad-hoc coding work, systems monitoring and automation.  You will also be working within a MS SCOM environment so should already be comfortable working with writing and debugging using Powershell.

You will ideally enjoy solving moderately complex problems using software related methodologies, processes, standards and tools.  Your week may also involve analysing Wintel via MS SCOM so your keen eye for detail along with out of the box thinking will be highly regarded.

You will be working as part of a team in an Agile environment to contribute to the overall success of program delivery by working on individual activities and collaborating to come together using configuration and version control.  You may also be liaising with system users to document a requirement or specification and understand their needs, goals, and any issues or limitations.

As a Junior-Mid level Software Developer working with our client, you will be highly encouraged to undertake independent learning to improve your knowledge of software development, and supported to develop your skills and knowledge specific to this role, to ensure you are able to contribute and reach your highest potential.

Specialisterne Australia exists because autistic candidates are being overlooked for employment, largely due to the many barriers that autistic candidates come up against when competing for employment in typical recruitment practices.

Specialisterne has created an end-to-end recruitment and employee support framework that removes those typically found barriers, and replaces them with practical, demonstrative assessments and activities whereby candidates, over a patient process, have the opportunity to:

  • better understand the requirements of the roles they are competing for to assess if they are the right opportunities for them
  • meet team members and managers throughout the process
  • connect with others who have previously gained employment via this program
  • demonstrate through practical assessments and activities their motivation and suitability for the available roles over a patient process
  • ‘show’ what they can do (not just tell someone what you can do)

At Specialisterne Australia our values are Respect, Clarity, Accommodation, and Accessibility. We keep these in mind in all that we do.  We work with our partner employers to promote and sustain a diverse and inclusive workforce.  To support you further throughout your journey, we provide a mentor and buddy, and we work with you to tailor an individual plan to accommodate your needs in the workplace, also providing a period of support for both you and your future employer, ensuring a successful transition into your new role.

Leidos’ commitment to inclusion
