Specialisterne Australia Submission to Select Committee on Autism

Introducing an Idea

2020

Specialisterne Australia Submission to the Government Select Committee on Autism, July 2020

On 27 November 2019, the Senate resolved to establish a Select Committee on Autism to inquire into and report on the services, support and life outcomes for autistic people in Australia and the associated need for a National Autism Strategy.

Specialisterne Australia welcomed the Select Committee’s inquiry into the services, support and life outcomes for autistic people in Australia. Our submission addressed services and support for autistic people who are seeking, or working to maintain, sustainable and meaningful  employment.

It covered what we believe needs to change and how this can happen by identifying meaningful ways in which supports, systems and cultures can be developed and adapted to meet the needs of autistic people so that they can meaningfully contribute to the workplace and have active social and economic participation.
